The meeting, which took place today (August 5) at the Prime
Minister’s Office, was attended by ARD Chief Executive Officer Mr.
Richardson Andrews, Director of Social Recovery Dr. Jennifer Holder
Dolly, Director of Physical Infrastructure Mr. David James, Director of
Economic Recovery Mrs. Promil Paul and Senior Projects Manager Mr.
Robin Swaisland.
The Prime Minister asked the ARD to work with the Housing Authority
of Grenada and other stakeholders to establish a Materials Procurement
Plan, in order to reduce the problems caused by shortages of building
materials.
Discussions also focussed on the progress the ARD is making with
respect to development of the Housing Settlement at Soubise and the
recently identified site at Mt. Gay. The ARD is currently designing a
project that will be submitted to the Caribbean Development Bank for
the construction of the infrastructure, such as roads and utilities,
for these two sites.
With respect to the Reconstruction and Development Fund, The Prime
Minister informed the ARD directors that the Fund will be predominantly
allocated to youth development, agricultural recovery and housing. He
said it is critical that the Country invests in young people.
“Our young people need hope. We need to work together to help them develop a sense of responsibility for their future,” he said.
