access road into the Settlement, internal roads, drains, a 48-foot
bridge, retaining walls, installation of water pipes and upgrading of
the sewerage treatment plants, as well as connecting electricity from
the poles to the houses.
The meeting was attended by officials from the ARD and the Housing
Authority of Grenada (HAG). Following the meeting at the ARD, a brief
ceremony was held at the Ministerial Complex, during which Deputy Prime
Minister Hon. Gregory Bowen and Vice Minister Sanz signed the agreement
for a $2 million (US) grant to fund the outstanding infrastructural
works.
In response to Grenada’s housing needs following the passage of
Hurricane Ivan, a Venezuelan military team constructed 100 units
comprising single and semi detached homes at Lacalome. The Government
of Grenada appointed the ARD as the executive agency to coordinate the
infrastructural works for the Settlement.
