In delivering remarks today at the consultations on the CWIQ at the
Grenada Trade Centre, Dr. Dolly said: “The ARD is pleased to have been
an initiator and partner with the UNDP in the mounting of this
programme.”
“We wish to thank the UNDP for its dedicated support to Grenada’s
reconstruction and development process and to the work of the ARD in
this respect,” Dr. Dolly noted.
The CWIQ is used by the UNDP to assist countries to reflect the needs of the disadvantaged in development planning.
“The journey to arrive at the CWIQ report has been a long and
necessary one. The ARD has been at one with UNDP in the promotion of
the urgent need to have data of this kind as a major initiative of the
rebuilding process,” she said.
The Report provides insight into how different population groups
regard access, utilisation and satisfaction with core social and
economic services. It contains information on the differential impact
of Hurricane Ivan on women and men; information on children, the living
conditions of the population and an analysis of social vulnerability,
among other important data.
“The CWIQ results, of necessity, need to be integrated into the
strategic planning process for reconstruction,” Dr. Dolly told the wide
cross section of stakeholders at today’s consultation.
